Case Study

Dermal Application of the ACell Vet™ Bioscaffold in a Canine

Submitted by: Jeffrey D.Wood, DVM of Northside Veterinary Hospital.

Synopsis:

Photo #1

"Fancy", a 7 year female Norwegian Elkhound presented to Northside Veterinary Hospital 1/6/2003 with an open draining wound on the right caudal hip.

Photo #2

On 1/7/2003 the area was clipped, cleaned and all devitalized material was debrided, leaving a defect of approximately 7 cm X 13 cm. A single sheet of the ACell Vet™ product was applied to the defect, then covered with saline soaked gauze and then bandaged to hold in place.

Photo #3

On 1/10/2003, Fancy returned for a follow-up visit at which time a second sheet of the ACell Vet™ material was placed in the defect and bandaged as before.

Photo #4

A recheck on 1/21/2003 shows the wound closing nicely. The wound is bandaged as before, however, no additional ACell Vet™ material will be used.

Photo #5

Follow-up on 1/27/2003 shows continued progress, with the wound continuing to heal well.

Photo #6

Subsequent follow-ups were uneventful, continuing to show complete healing of the wound site with full hair re-growth to the area.
