"Reality's Pine," is a four year old Thoroughbred Gelding (Racehorse) with a history of "run-down" injuries when racing over a deep or sloppy track. He had run on a sloppy track approximately one week prior to presentation and had deep, full thickness and subcutaneous tissue injuries to the posterior aspects of both hind fetlocks. He was admitted to Londonderry Equine Clinic on 5/02/02 and treated topically with a single layer sheet of ACell Vet™ at each wound site on 5/02/02, 5/05/02, 5/11/02 and 5/15/02. The horse was also treated systemically with 50 ml gentamycin daily from 5/02/02 to 5/10/02 inclusive. He was discharged on 5/15/02 with good progressive healing in the form of healthy beds of granulation tissue.

The owner continued bandaging the legs at home and reported progressive healing with quality epithelialization in much less time than on previous occasions when similar injuries had occurred. (See photos # 4 & 5)

Reality's Pine has been able to race very successfully (two wins in three starts at this writing) since and the skin has held up very well.
