The Use of ACell Vet™ Bioscaffold as a Buccal and Subcutaneous Patch Following Radical Excision of a "Lumpy Jaw" Mass in a Red Kangaroo

Synopsis:

"Kevin", a Red Kangaroo presented to Northside Veterinary Hospital 9/25/02 with "Lumpy Jaw" on its right side, suspected to be a fusobacterium infection.

Lump Size.

The animal was anesthetized, after which the entire infected area was surgically excised, with the incision continuing into the oral cavity. The wound area was then excised and cleaned.

A 4-Ply layer of the ACell Vet™ product was sutured to the buccal mucosa using a continuous suture of 2-0 Monomend™.

Then, a single layer of the lyophilized ACell Vet™ material was sutured using a continuous pattern to the subcutaneous area with 2-0 Monomend and the defect was closed.
